Stumptown Coffee Roasters
Portland Headquarters, 2011; Los Angeles Café, 2013
Stumptown Coffee Roasters engaged W.PA to aid them in the selection of a building for their Oregon headquarters. When a space was secured, we worked with Stumptown to adaptive a 40,000sf space as their Oregon roasting headquarters and their national corporate offices. This would be the first time that all functions would be housed under the same roof.
The roasting facility uses state of the art sustainable strategies for heat recovery and roasting functions. The office space and production and training areas embrace the rustic finishes found in the existing building. The exterior adaptation used reclaimed cedar to create a brand identity for Stumptown.
For their Los Angeles location, we helped Stumptown adapt a large warehouse space in the center of the Arts District in downtown to house their California roasting headquarters. We created custom framed wood storefront systems to enclose a small retail café along the street face. The bowstring truss structure passes over the collection of programed spaces and added skylights allow natural light to penetrate the deep space.
